Pure Profile – Bob’s Not Happy.

After our blog post about our, now resolved, issues with Harvey Norman we’ve since received an email from a punter about Pure Profile. We’ll call him Bob*.

As a bit of a background, Pure Profile is a site that pays you for your information. This normally happens by way of filling in questionnaires. These questionnaires are emailed to you periodically and they come via Pure Profile from various companies.

Each questionnaire promises around $2-$3 dollars if it’s filled in completely – this depends upon whether or not you qualify and this is determined after the first 3-4 questions.

Here’s the rub.

The angst, in the email we received, stemmed from the fact that Bob filled in more than one questionnaire, reaching the 10th+ question only to be hit by a screen saying that he did not qualify. He received $0.20 for his troubles.

Things then got worse. He contacted Pure Profile twice regarding this issue. Both times he received a promise to get back to him after they contacted the group issuing the survey.

He never heard from them again regarding the first. The second has been almost a month since PureProfile’s promise.

Bob is super disappointed.

So here’s the thing.

Should PureProfile be more accountable?

Shouldn’t they protect their “commodities” from unscrupulous companies?

After all – without their user base, Pure Profile would be nothing.

Betrayals, lack of customer service and gaming of the system by companies using PureProfile’s user base leads to a lack of  faith and loyalty.

Sure this is only one case – but I’m sure there are more people out there disappointed by this type of rip-off. Crowd sourcing is largely based upon loyalty – break this and what is left?

    I frequently get almost all the way through surveys to find “Sorry, our client was looking for a particular demographic”. The other favourite is to ask a “few” “screening” questions that end up getting quite detailed information from you before finding out again that you don’t qualify. They haven’t ever responded to my complaints. I will be deleting my account details and blocking their emails.
